RULES:
GENERAL RULES
1. There will be a $20 cash entry fee per team. This is payable the day of the tournament. We are limited to 8 teams for this year’s tournament. We will maintain a wait list. This tournament is for current SUNY Potsdam students.
2. A team may start with a minimum of 9 players and a maximum of 12.  All Rosters should list each player & their SUNY Potsdam ID number and be turned in at the Center for Campus Life, ATTN: RHA, dropped off at the RHA Office, or emailed to
3. Only students enrolled at SUNY Potsdam are eligible to play.  Those who are not students will be asked to leave the field and the game may be forfeited if the minimum number of players is not present.
4. When you arrive at the field, you must check in with event staff (at a designated central location).  All players must show SUNY ID.
5. A team may not play with less than 9 players, and will forfeit their game if there are not enough players 5 minutes after the scheduled start time.  You may continue to play with subs, but it will not count.
6. A team may not borrow any player from another team to meet the required number of players, unless your team has already forfeited the game.
7. No more than 10 people on the field at one time and no less than 9.  This allows for a fourth outfielder if desired.  All 12 players must be placed in your teams’ batting order.
8. The decision of the home and the visitor teams will be decided with a coin toss before the first pitch, or by mutual agreement.
9. Players can utilize the bats and balls provided by event staff or bring their own ASA approved softball bat. If a team brings their own bat, they must share it with the team they are playing.
GAME PLAY RULES
1. The game will consist of six innings with a one-hour time limit.  After one hour, the home team will continue to bat until the completion of their turn.  If the visiting team is at bat when time expires, the game will refer back to the score of the last complete inning.
2. If a team is losing by 15 runs after three or four innings, that team will be declared the loser.  If a team is winning by 10 runs after five innings, that team will be declared the winner.
3. A teams’ half of an inning will consist of three outs.
4. PITCHING – This will be an arc style matt-ball tournament. The pitcher must pitch the ball to a height of 6-15 feet and the ball must come down on a 2 ft wide by 5 ft long matt for a strike. Players will be awarded a walk if they get 4 balls before making an out. A strikeout will occur when a player gets 3 strikes before walking or putting the ball in play. A pitched ball that strikes a player will be considered a ball.
5. There is no bunting.
6. This will be a double elimination (2-loss) tournament with the winner of the losers’ bracket being inserted back into the tournament. The championship game is a signle game, regardless of win/loss record.
